A long-time favorite of The Single Gourmet, this Old World Italian has been satisfying Greenwich Village locals since 1919. With impeccable service, a great menu and a very loyal clientele of “90% regulars,” Gene’s manages to be packed on a nightly basis. The kitchen, run by longtime veteran chef Hector Delgado, highlights snappy renditions of Italian and French favorites. Almost the entire kitchen staff has been there for 30 years. Be prepared to walk into a classic, almost 100-year old NYC landmark restaurant and be prepared to walk out satisfied and filled with delicious food.

Located in the charming neighborhood of Murray Hill, Rossini’s has been serving fine Northern Italian Cuisine for over 40 years, based on many long-standing family recipes as well as new and innovative Italian presentations. Over the years this classic ristorante has been a favorite of The Single Gourmet. Rossini’s features a pair of singers on Saturday nights, who perform a selection of opera numbers, Broadway show tunes, and standards from the American songbook. With large chairs and a roomy interior, it provides an ambiance that is perfect for either the important business lunch or the intimate romantic dinner. The genuine friendliness and warm service makes diners feel right at home in this family owned restaurant. This event is limited to 18 people.

Since 1981, Villa Berulia has been serving delicious Italian and Croatian food in this old-school gem of a restaurant hidden in plain sight on E 34th St. Zagat says, “exceptional hospitality is the strong suit of this Murray Hill family affair that follows through with excellent Italian fare.” The owners offer a warm atmosphere and often personally welcome and thank you. Recommended by many members of our group over the years, it has 4 stars on Yelp and 4.5 stars on TripAdvisor.

This is one of The Single Gourmet’s favorite restaurants, and our menu, which has been upgraded to 4 courses, features the best of their Italian and Croatian delicacies such as the Pollo Berulia, a chef’s special of chicken sautéed in white wine with wild mushrooms and artichoke hearts; vegan options are also available.

Quality Italian is a modern take on the Italian-American steakhouse tradition. It references the flavors, style and tableside flair of this classic genre with unique design and food that appeals to today’s diner. Continuing the tradition of sister restaurant Quality Meats, Quality Italian references old‑world butcher shops in its unique design, drawing inspiration from the traditional butcher guilds found throughout Italy. These guilds were responsible for maintaining quality control for the meat sold throughout the country, and at Quality Italian, internationally renowned design firm AvroKO references the significant role these institutions had in Italian culture and tradition in each of the restaurants.

With a 24 rating on Zagat, Obicà combines Italy’s finest artisanal ingredients with innovative presentations. Founded in Rome in 2004, Obicà means “Here we are” for their open kitchen concept. Obicà has expanded worldwide with locations in Italy, England, Dubai, Japan, and the United States. The restaurant has partnered with “Slow Food Association” to commit to food linked with pleasure, culture, tradition and a style of life. Obicà uses mozzarella made from the creamy and nutritious milk of the water buffalo, hand-made by artisan producers in the Denominazione di Origine Protetta (DOP) of Campania in Southern Italy, prosciutto DOP Galloni Gold, and Taleggio DOP Fondue (thus meaning they are from a protected designation of origin, and guaranteed to be authentic).

An old favorite of the group, and Zagat rated 4.2. “A staple for entertaining clients, this expense-account Midtowner draws a chatty crowd with authentic, sure-bet Italian standards… you can expect comfortable, grown-up dining at any hour”. We will be treated like family by Lello’s son, Dino. Our multi-course dinner will be as great as always.   • Crisp Cesare salad – classic dressing, toasted croutons, shaved Parma
  • Eggplant “Parmigiana” (vegatarian) – with ricotta, mozzarella, plum tomato sauce
  • Tre colore salad (vegatarian) – spiced walnuts, sun dried cherries, pears, soft mild goat cheese
  • Verde Mista (vegan) – Organic mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, radish, sweet roasted shallots vinaigrette

In-between course:
  • Penne (vegetarian) – with Absolut vodka sauce, fresh garden peas

Entrées (choice of):
  • Risotto Tre Funghi (vegetarian) – wild mushrooms, puree of porcini, shaved parmesan cheese, rosemary, thyme, white truffle oil
  • Chicken Francese – with artichokes, white wine, lemon & capers
  • Broiled salmon – chopped chives, light honey Dijon mustard sauce
  • Grilled aged sirloin steak – roasted garlic, rosemary, olive oil

Garnish of the day: roasted potatoes and vegetables

Refund Policy: Sometimes plans unexpectedly change, which we understand. However, restaurants do impose deposit and guarantee requirements when we plan our events, so we have the following generous refund policy (certain events may have different refund policies):

If you cancel:

  • 7 days (or more) before a dinner, you may cancel for a full refund or credit, less a $5 cancellation fee
  • 4-6 days before a dinner, you will receive a credit toward a future event, less a $10 change fee
  • 0-3 days before a dinner (or if you do not show up), no refund or credit

If a dinner or an event is canceled by The Single Gourmet, you will receive a full refund or credit toward a future purchase with no cancellation or change fee.

Ticketed events (tours, shows, and ANY non-dinner event) are non-refundable within 7 days of the event.

Annual membership fees are non-refundable.
